This past Wednesday, the social media platform of Twitter
Those who partake in a community have the ability to make tweets to those who belong to a community rather than just their followers, but the only ones who are able to respond to the tweets are participants of the community. The feature is much like Facebook Groups
The initial Communities to come out will feature topics like weather, dogs, skin care, and astrology. Moderators will also be available within Communities who are able to bring in other Twitter users to the group. For Twitter, it has been immensely difficult to keep users engaged with relevant tweets or accounts. In order to rectify the situation, Twitter began to endorse specific subjects, like professional sports teams.
The Communities feature could cause the Twitter app to become more interesting and engaging, particularly for those who have not time or energy toward designing or maintaining their primary timelines. Initially, Twitter observed that it would begin working on Communities in February. It stated that its objective was to make it "easier for people to form, discover, and participate in conversations that are more targeted to the relevant communities or geographies they're interested in." This additionally suggests that Communities could adopt apps like Nextdoor by recommending groups for those who reside in particular cities or neighborhoods.
Twitter's new Communities feature will likely engage users across the board because it will help to foster online relationships in ways that it had not before. It will enable users to communicate with one another in more active ways that appeal to mutual interests and topics, which will further popularize the social media platform.
