After ratifying a new agreement with Ford of Canada on Sunday, Unifor will now begin negotiating with General Motors Co
What Happened: The Canadian union on Monday selected General Motors as the next player to negotiate with among the Detroit three. Talks are set to begin on Tuesday, it said in a statement.
The negotiations will be for an agreement in line with the one with Ford while also addressing GM-specific issues.

Thus Far: Unifor said on Sunday that a majority of its Ford members voted in favor of a new three-year collective agreement with Ford of Canada that includes a base hourly wage increase of up to 25%. Other key updates in the new contract include reactivation of the cost of living allowance, improvements to pension plans, investment for Essex Engine Plant and protections during the transition to EVs.
"We've got an incredibly strong pattern agreement at Ford that will serve us well over the coming years. Our job now though as a union is to negotiate that pattern in the form of a renewal Collective Agreement with both General Motors and Stellantis," Unifor National President Lana Payne said.
