The markets started the week in slow fashion as traders likely have taken off this week or will be trading lightly. The Dow 30 added 11, the S&P 500 added 5, and the Nasdaq 100 was the best performer adding 24. Tomorrow the scheduled news remains light with only pending home sales which are due out early in the session.
Amazon (NASDAQ: AMZN) was strong today after reporting the best ever holiday season. The company claimed that it shipped over 1 billion items this holiday season which sent shares higher by 1.42%. The move wasn't enough to get the technical traders back from vacation though as it continues to remain inside a range.
Nvidia Corp (NASDAQ: NVDA) shot up another 6.87% today adding to its already impressive rally for 2016. Volume was heavy as traders piled into the winner with little caution. Not only did it close strong today but technical traders note that it closed pennies off of its high of the session indicating the bulls were chasing all the way to the close.
Tesla (NASDAQ: TSLA) was a major supporter of the Nasdaq 100 today as it added another 2.90%. The company announced that it will use panasonic to build solar panels for their roofing shingles to power homes. Shares broke above 3 month highs today, continuing their recent win streak.
