Apple (AAPL  ) hosted its latest iPhone and hardware presentation where it unveiled its newest suite of products including the iPhone 13, iPhone 13 mini, iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max, Apple Watch Series 7, the new iPad, and an all-new iPad mini. These products are expected to be available on September 24.

Here are some of the highlights from the event:

iPhone 13

The most anticipated new product is the iPhone 13 given its price point and that its Apple's largest seller by a significant margin. There are expectations of a big upgrade cycle given the increased availability of 5G coverage and that the average iPhone is now more than 2 years old. However, many were dismissive of the iPhone13 especially given that many of the improvements are internal and evolutionary rather than new designs that have marked previous iPhone generations.

The newest iPhone has a larger battery that should provide an additional 1.5 to 2.5 hours of battery life. In terms of aesthetics, there's little difference other than a slightly larger screen due to a smaller cutout at the top. Another difference is that the camera modules are arranged diagonally with one camera a 12-megapixel wide-angle lens, that captures 50% more light. The camera also has a cinematic mode that can do a better job of taking video.

The iPhone13 also has a brighter screen and comes in two sizes - 5.4 inches, and 6.1 inches, - and in five colors. It's powered by the Apple-designed and Taiwan Semiconductor (TSM  ) produced A15 Bionic chip that has six cores. The iPhone 13 mini base model is priced at $699 with the larger iPhone 13 base model coming in at $799. The base model comes with 128 GB of storage with more memory available for higher prices.

iPhone Pro

Similar to the iPhone13, the new Pro model also has more internal improvements and longer battery life between 1.5 and 2.5 hours. Both phones come in at similar prices to the current iPhone 12 Pro at $999 and the Pro Max starting at $1,099. It has also added a phone with more storage at 1TB.

There are no changes in terms of screen size or cameras or chip type. However, one new feature is the "Super Retina XDR with ProMotion" which should improve the resolution and clarity of the display especially when scrolling or watching video.

iPad

The company's base iPad model got an upgrade with a faster processor and an improved front-facing camera for video calls. It also has a wider camera angle. The company has also kept the price of its base model quite low at $329 to compete with Androids which can be found for around $150 to $250.

The company also launched a new iPad Mini with an 8.3-inch screen and a newer design. The new iPad Mini is noticeably thinner with smaller buttons on the sides. It also has no fingerprint sensor and has a 12-megapixel rear camera. It is priced at $499.

iWatch

Apple also debuted the newest update of its watch - the Apple Watch Series 7. It features a bigger screen by about 20% compared to the Series 6, and the company claims the watch is more resilient in terms of cracks and will charge faster. It also has redesigned its software to allow more information on the screen.
