Yum! Brands' (YUM  ) Taco Bell announced this week that it would become yet another contender for the now infamous, and very crowded, Chicken Wars. The fast food chain plans to create a taco that contains a chicken sandwich inside of it, thus attracting chicken loving consumers in the process.

This brand new taco takes on the same twist or Mexican feel as the rest of the Taco Bell menu, composed of flatbread with pieces of crispy tortilla chicken and chipotle sauce, sold at the price of $2.49.

In order to become even further competition for the Chicken Wars, Taco Bell hinted that there would be more chicken sandwiches and chicken-related types of food at a later time. These items will likely reflect past popular attractions, such as the Crispy Chicken Chickstar, star-shaped tortilla wrap filled with crispy chicken; the Naked Chicken Chips,chip-shaped crispy chicken pieces that come with nacho dipping sauce; and the Naked Chicken Chalupa, a piece of chicken shaped like a tortilla stuffed with typical taco fillings.

Although Taco Bell seems to be a high contender in the Chicken Wars, there are no guarantees, given that there are many other fast food chains that are in the process of adding chicken-related items to their menus, including McDonald's (MCD  ), Burger King (QSR  ), Wendy's (WEN  ), and Shake Shack (SHAK  ). With all this competition, it's getting hard to remember that the chicken wars started between Popeye's and Chick-fil-A over a year ago over a chicken sandwich social media frenzy.

Taco Bell has a growing habit of catching the tailwinds of other competitors successful marketing tactics. For example, Taco Bell launched program called 'Build Your Own Cravings,' which is a promotion tool that allows customers to choose their own menu items on a more personal level and choose celebrity favorites in response to McDonald's Travis Scott burger promotion this past summer. The company also came out with a Taco Bell rewards program, as well as a service that enables users to send tacos as gifts, also mirroring the success of other fast food chains like Burger King.

All in all, Taco Bell seems to be bringing the Chicken Wars to their peak, but can be a strong competitor due to the company's reputation in the past for its unique menu items. This quality of uniqueness will likely give Taco Bell a boost or a sense of strength that the other fast food chains do not have, which may propel it to the top of the Chicken Wars - or at least, higher than expected.
