In Disney's (NYSE: DIS) most recent news, it is planning to delay the release of many of its film titles, some of which include "Indiana Jones" and the Black Panther sequel, "Wakanda Forever."
One reason for the delay of the "Indiana Jones" film release could be that Harrison Ford, one of the star actors, has most recently suffered from a shoulder injury that has led to him taking a break from the world of acting in general. The director, James Mangold, went on to shoot the film without Harrison Ford, but there are a certain number of scenes that do not include him at all.
Beyond that, the reasons behind the delays can only be speculated. One possibility is that the company believes that it will become far more successful in the future, when more individuals are likely to become vaccinated from the coronavirus.
Some of the other titles that are in the plans for having delayed releases are as follows: "Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness", "Thor: Love and Thunder", "The Marvels", and "Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania."
Another potential reason that Disney could be delaying the release of these films is because of carefully crafted strategies that it implements in order to attract certain viewers.
Release dates are important and hold significance in the eyes of moviemakers. Therefore, as soon as one film has a delay, then the rest of the films will have one as well. Although COVID-19 has drastically changed the way in which movie studios release their films, it has not changed it to the point where the originally intended movies will not be released at all. The delays might make it difficult for individual viewers to enjoy what they once did in the same way, but they will ultimately have the chance to do so, even if they have to wait.
