Ford Motor Company (NYSE: F) shares are trading lower on Wednesday.
The auto behemoth is reportedly recalling 2.24 million older Explorer sport utility vehicles globally because trim retention clips may not be properly engaged, Reuters reported.
Covering model years 2011 through 2019, a recall has been issued for 1.89 million SUVs in the U.S.
Ford stated that there have been no reported crashes or injuries associated with the recall.
Dealers will examine and replace the A-pillar trim if needed. The A-pillar is the metal support for the windshield, discontinued by Ford in 2019, the report added.
Ford anticipates a 5% impact on the vehicle population. Owners may notice issues like loose A-pillar trim gaps or detect rattles and wind noise.
The automaker reported receiving an initial inquiry from NHTSA in 2018 regarding exterior A-pillar trim detachments on 2012-2014 Explorer vehicles.
Price Action: F shares are trading lower by 2.4% to $11.09 on the last check Wednesday.
