Alphabet Inc.'s (GOOG  ) (GOOGL  ) Google announced its annual Pixel hardware event will be held on Oct. 4 in New York City. The company is expected to launch the Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro smartphones along with the Pixel Watch 2.

What Happened: Google set the date for its next hardware event, with the launch starting at 10 a.m. PT and will be livestreamed on YouTube.

Late Tuesday, Google accidentally leaked images the Pixel 8 Pro, giving the public the first official glimpse at the phone's camera design. This came soon after Apple announced its iPhone 15 event, which will be on Sept. 12.

Over the past few months, there have been several leaks about the Pixel 8 series and the Pixel Watch 2, giving an idea about what the devices will offer.

Going by the leaked images, the Pixel 8 Pro will house all three camera sensors in a new unified sensor, instead of a separate island for one of them like on the Pixel 7 Pro.

Pixel 8 Pro Features: What We Know So Far

The Google Pixel 8 Pro is expected to sport a triple camera setup on the back, with a 50MP primary snapper, a 64MP ultrawide and a 48MP telephoto module.

Google has added an infrared sensor that will allow users to measure their body temperature by pointing it at the temple region.

Just like its predecessor, the Pixel 8 Pro is said to feature a 6.7-inch 120Hz display and a 4,950mAh battery. Charging speeds are expected to see a moderate boost to 27W from the 23W of its predecessor.

Another highlight of the Pixel 8 Pro will be the Tensor G3 chipset, paired with 12GB of RAM and 256GB storage. It will launch with Android 14 and is expected to receive five years of updates, just like its rival iPhone.
