Here are some of the highlights:
iOS16
The newest iPhone OS offers more customization options for users including ways to make the lock screen more useful and personalized. This includes notifications, widgets, and rotating photos.
Text messaging also gets a facelift with options for editing, undoing, and marking messages as unread. For the Wallet app, it's adding more partners for wireless keys, iPay partners, and Apple Pay Later which is essentially a 'buy now, pay later' (BNPL) product that puts pressure on companies in the space like Affirm
MacBook
The company redesigned the MacBook Air with the M2 chip. It is now available in more colors and comes with a better display, webcam, and speakers. It also has better battery life and performance and supports fast charging (with 2 USB ports).
A new version of the MacBook Pro was also introduced, also with the M2 chip and a better cooling system which leads to better performance. However, it hasn't been redesigned like the Air.
MacOS
The new Mac OS, Ventura, was unveiled with several upgrades including better window and task management. A better Spotlight function which integrates web information and more details about media files.
There are also improved search features and capabilities. More sharing features with friends and family. A big reveal was PassKeys which means that touch ID and Face ID can be used to log into sites.
There were also more back-end improvements to offer better graphics and rendering for the fast loading required for certain games. The company also announced that Resident Evil Village and No Man's Sky will be available on Mac later this year.
Another new feature is Continuity Camera which allows the iPhone to be used as a webcam.
iWatch and iPad OS
The new operating systems for the iWatch and iPad received similar upgrades to the iPhone IOS and MacOS.
Like the increased customization of the lock screen, the WatchOS9 offers more customization, including the ability to add new and diverse calendars, unique watch faces, the ability to pin apps, and customize notifications.
It also gives more information on running metrics including the ability to track form. There are also improvements to the Sleep Stages to track sleep states. Apple is also looking for U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approval to track atrial fibrillation history. For the iPad OS, the one really unique new feature is FreeForm, which is a virtual shared whiteboard.
