Nasdaq holds all the strength today.

The Nasdaq 100 was the clear leader today as it was the only market to post a positive day. The Dow 30 was lower by 55 as energy suffered today. The S&P 500 lost 7 and the Nasdaq 100 closed up 10 thanks to Apple (NASDAQ: AAPL) and the biotech sector. Tomorrow news is light giving traders very little to go on for the day. Some light jobs numbers due out in the morning but they do not usually have an impact on the major markets.

Surgical Affiliates (NASDAQ: SCAI) was a big winner today as news came out that UnitedHealth (NYSE: UNH) is buying the company for $2.3 billion in cash and stock. Shares surged 16.21% today as the deal became public, pushing prices to all time highs.

McDonald's (NYSE: MCD) wasn't much of a mover today as news came out that the company is selling 20-year rights for 80% of its business in China and Hong Kong to investors led by state-owned Chinese conglomerate CITIC and The Carlyle Group. The deal is valued by analysts at about $2.1 billion. Shares have been just off two month lows recently but today traded flat (-0.26%).

Fiat Chrysler (NASDAQ: FCAU) shares popped to new highs today (+1.44%) as it announced it will invest $1 billion to upgrade plants in Ohio and Michigan, creating 2,000 new jobs. The news comes after Ford (NYSE: F) decided not to make a plant in Mexico and said it will invest $700 million in a factory in Michigan instead. All of this news has been generated mostly due to the efforts of the new President-elects pushes to "Make America great again".
