'Obvious Missing Features' Coming To Threads, Says Instagram Head Adam Mosseri

Instagram head Adam Mosseri and his team working on Threads are not resting. After sprinting to 100 million users in five days of its launch, Mosseri revealed that his team will now begin prioritizing the missing features and start shipping improvements this week.

What Happened: Meta Platforms Inc. (NASDAQ: META) has started prioritizing missing features in Threads, with improvements and bug fixes beginning to ship this week.

"We're starting to prioritize (sic) the obvious missing features, like a following feed, the edit button, and post search," Mosseri said in a post on the new app.

One of the biggest criticisms of Threads so far has been the algorithmic feed that greets users when they open the app. Given that Threads is linked to Instagram accounts, it is quite likely that the feed also consists of some of the recommendations that users see on Instagram, apart from other popular posts on Threads.

As a result, posts from people you follow tend to get lost in the sea of other viral content. With Mosseri confirming that his team is working on a feed to show content from accounts followed by a user, it should fix one of the biggest pain points of the app.

Other Updates In Works: Another major issue with Threads is that since it is powered by Instagram, the same account is used across both the services.

As a result, if a user deletes their Threads account, it will nuke their Instagram account, too. But it could be solved in the future, according to Mosseri.

"Threads is powered by Instagram, so right now it's just one account, but we're looking into a way to delete your Threads account separately," Mosseri said.
