Last week, Target
Employees will be eligible at all Target stores beginning on their first day of work. Target will provide full expenses for 250 programs that are in conjunction with its company, like computer science, information technology, and business management.
Should a worker decide on a different area of study or advanced degree of some kind, Target would offer up to $5,250 for non-Masters degrees and up to $10,000 for Masters degrees that will go directly to each academic establishment.
Target has also stated that it will invest in $200 million worth of education systems throughout the course of the next four years. It has also established a program with Guild Education, which is a business that maintains corporate education assistance projects. The schools that are directly involved in this program include the University of Arizona, Oregon State University, University of Denver, and Morehouse College.
"Target employs team members at every life stage and helps our team learn, develop and build their skills, whether they're with us for a year or a career. A significant number of our hourly team members build their careers at Target, and we know many would like to pursue additional education opportunities. We don't want the cost to be a barrier for anyone, and that's where Target can step in to make education accessible for everyone," said Melissa Kremer, chief human resources officer of Target, in a press statement. "Our team members are the heart of Target's strategy and success, and we have a long history of investing in industry-leading pay, extensive benefits and career opportunities to help our team thrive and have rewarding careers at Target."
The new perks and collegiate benefits that Target will have for team members will surely attract more workers to the company. Given the costliness of academic institutions these days, this particular offer seems unbeatable, and will surely have a lasting impact on existing employees, as well as deal in potential candidates.
