An executive from BYD Co., Ltd. (BYDDY  ) reportedly posted a video featuring the hybrid SUV Song L DM-i, suggesting its launch could be imminent.

Lu Tian, general manager of BYD's Dynasty lineup sales division, posted a video on Weibo showcasing the details of the Song L DM-i, reported CnEV Post.

"Leading the new trend of mid-size SUVs, the Song L DM-i is here," Lu wrote today, CnEV Post noted.

While both this new model and the Song L battery electric vehicle (BEV) share the Song L name, they feature distinct design differences, the report added.

According to a previous regulatory filing, the Song L DM-i measures 4,780 mm in length, 1,898 mm in width, and 1,670 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,782 mm.

In contrast, the Song L EV has dimensions of 4,840 mm in length, 1,950 mm in width, and 1,560 mm in height, along with a wheelbase of 2,930 mm.

Yesterday, the company was in the headlines for an agreement with the authorities of the Shen-Shan Special Cooperation Zone to develop the third phase of its industrial park.

The project, which will cost RMB6.5 billion ($893.77 million), will focus on constructing battery-pack production lines and a core parts factory for new energy vehicles (NEVs).

Established in February 2011, the Shen-Shan Special Cooperation Zone operates as a Shenzhen enclave, originally under Shanwei city in Guangdong province but now administered by the Shenzhen municipal government.
