The way that the game works is that players need to predict the word that another player has written down on a piece of paper. If a player needs more rounds in order to continue predicting the written word, then he or she will gather more points for the game. Whomever has the highest amount of points will lose, and the one with the lowest amount will win.
"We're beyond thrilled to work with New York Times Games to bring our gaming worlds together and extend Wordle in new ways," stated Adam Biehl, SVP & General Manager of Hasbro Gaming, in a news release.
Though Wordle is not yet available for purchase, it can now be preordered on Amazon
The NYT has proven to see great success from purchasing Wordle, since it has experienced millions of users who have visited the site in quarter one of 2022 alone. Wordle is currently free of charge when played online, but The New York Times still observed an increase in its gaming subscribers when it added Wordle to its mix of games among others.
At the beginning of the week, a new game was also released by Spotify
