ByteDance's TikTok announced recently that it will feature an in-app shopping experience via its collaboration with Shopify
This particular shopping tab can be described as the section of a TikTok profile that contains various clickable items that will enable one to be directed to a vendor's storefront on Shopify. Item links additionally offer the opportunity for vendors to link products straight to TikTok posts. In its present state, this Shopify option does not provide full profit benefits for its creators. It would need a TikTok for Business account as well as a Shopify storefront, which are features that not every creator will automatically have.
It seems to be more of an extension of the collaboration between TikTok and Shopify in the year 2020 as opposed to money-making schemes that will be held on the platform for the future. To top it off, Kylie Jenner, one of the first users of the new platform, has made it known that she will utilize the feature along with her Kylie Cosmetics brand, will make her brand available on TikTok.
"Creators are paving the way for a new kind of entrepreneurship where content, community, and commerce are key," stated Harley Finkelstein, president of Shopify. "By enabling new in-app shopping experiences and product discovery on TikTok for the first time, Shopify is powering the creator economy on one of the fastest-growing social and entertainment platforms in the world. We are excited to help this next generation of entrepreneurs connect with their audiences in more ways-and with TikTok as a visionary partner."
Overall, the collaboration between TikTok and Shopify will permit users to view e-commerce in an entirely new light. It will surely motivate customers and users to make more purchases on items that they otherwise would not have.
