Twitter (TWTR  ) recently added podcasts to its platfrom, called Twitter Spaces, which will allow users to find podcasts and playlists based on their personal interests.

The Twitter Spaces feature contains another feature known as "Stations," which are essentially topical playlists that provide podcast episodes taken from RSS together to formulate Twitter's social audio events and recordings. The Stations are quite personalized, in the sense that they can be catered to users' personal preferences for a variety of topics, like news, music, and sports. Recommendations can also be displayed depending on themes and individuals whom users follow. The podcasts can also be "liked" or "disliked," which informs Twitter even further regarding personal preferences or interests.

"Starting today, the reimagined Spaces Tab, including the addition of podcasts, will be visible to a group of global English-speaking audience on iOS (AAPL  ) and Android (GOOGL  )," Twitter stated late last month.

According to research conducted by Twitter, 45% of users who utilize its platform in the United States also listen to podcasts on a monthly basis. This is why Twitter is now making recommendations in order to guide users in terms of personal interests or topics of choice. The further that users tune in to the podcasts, the more that Twitter will make a conscious effort to customize its audio Stations.

"What we're really trying to capture here is as if it's like another user recommending you something," Twitter senior product manager Evan Jones told the podcast-focused news outlet Hot Pod.

Twitter also added that the implementation of podcasts is part of its ultimate goal to offer users an "all-in-one, personalized audio destination" that contains diversity in terms of options to choose from.

As other companies, like Meta's (META  ) Facebook, choose to shut down their podcast systems, Twitter could potentially take the lead in terms of deciding to implement this particular feature.
