Major films that contributed to Disney's massive success in 2019 ticket sale revenue are "Avengers: Endgame" ($2.8 billion), "The Lion King" ($1.7 billion), "Captain Marvel" ($1.13 billion), "Toy Story 4" ($1.1 billion), "Aladdin" ($1.1 billion), and "Frozen 2" ($1.03 billion). Additional success in the realm of hundreds of millions came from "Maleficent: Mistress of Evil" ($485 million), "Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker" ($598 million), and "Dumbo" ($353 million).

When it came to the summer season, Disney accounted for about half of all U.S. and Canada ticket sales. Despite summer ticket sales falling 2% behind last year, the studio not only made more than other studios during 2019; Disney brought in more than all other studios put together. Over the summer, five Disney films passed $1 billion in ticket sales.
The biggest summer blockbuster was Disney's "The Lion King," ranking seventh for all-time global ticket sales.
"Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker," which came out later in the year, has not fared at the box office as well as anticipated and compared with previous films in the saga.
That said, Disney has been on the rise in Hollywood for quite some time, particularly since Bob Iger took over as Disney's CEO in 2005. With acquisitions over the years like Miramax, ABC, ESPN, Pixar, Lucasfilm, and Marvel, the studio really has become a force to be reckoned with, and that trend doesn't seem to be stopping anytime soon.
Disney acquired 20th Century Fox in March 2019.
